Wedding Wine

We are having a wedding here in Wine Welfare land, and we just wanted to take the time to thank everyone who reads the site (we don’t hear from you enough in the comments, but we know you’ll come around eventually…).
We also wanted to mention the wines that will be served at this wedding, in the hopes that you might want to try them at your own (or a friend’s) nuptuals, or just to try something new at your next gathering. All the wines except for the Champagne come from a producer in the Edna Valley of California that we have reviewed only once so far. They are called Claiborne & Churchill, and we highly recommend you visit their winery just outside of Pismo Beach as soon as you can.
Claiborne & Churchill Pinot Gris (Sold only at winery)
Gorgeous pale grey color leads to wonderful green apple, lemon, light grass and a touch of vanilla. Firm acidity makes this wine refreshingly dry and crisp.
Claiborne & Churchill Dry Gewurtztraminer (Sold only at winery)
The best of both worlds: delicious, sweet Gewurtztraminer balanced with good, dry acidity. The wine isn’t exactly for dessert, but should be paired the same way you would a Riesling.
Claiborne & Churchill Syrah (Sold only at winery)
Inky, deep purple, flesh and silky mouthfeel with delicious jammy, plummy, dark-fruited flavors perfect for grilled or braised meats.
Claiborne & Churchill “Douce Amie” Orange Muscat (Sold only at winery)
Take it easy with this dessert wine, as the orange blossom and honey sweetness can get on top of you. Perfect with a lemon cake (which happens to be what is being served).
Moet & Chandon White Star Champagne ($29.99 at Wine Exchange)
This is a great quality Champagne (not sparkling, remember) that really pleases most palates. Dry with a touch of sweetness. The wine is made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, and is really marketed more toward the American market. Basically, it’s the Champagne for people who want Champagne, but are not very discerning.
Awesome.
By the way, should you choose to try any of these you may notice that only the 2 whites are under $20, but we figured, hey, it’s a wedding! Everything in life can’t be under $20, especially those magic moments!
That’s all, folks. Remember to subscribe to get all the latest suggestions from Wine Welfare!
Cheers!

Really enjoyed the Claiborne & Churchill Pinot Gris. It was crisp and fruity and was great with the Chicken Marsala. The Syrah was delicious, really yummy. Only had a sip of the champagne, and LOVED the dessert wine. Really a treat. Thanks for sharing these wines.
