Wine Review: Stanza Pinot Noir 2006 – Less Than $9!
Posted by Wine Welfare | Filed under $8-$10, BevMo 5 Cent Wine Sale, California, Pinot Noir, Red, USA

Cheap, tasty Pinot Noir is hard to come by these days, but the BevMo 5¢ Wine Sale certainly helps. This one is the Stanza Pinot Noir.
Good News: Like the Fess Parker White Riesling we reviewed yesterday, the Stanza Pinot Noir is focused. Another laser beam on the classic smells and flavors of the varietal. Floral nose, smelling of dusty roses and a touch of smoke. Like you dried some roses, dumped them in a cedar box, and put a flame under it all. Full mouthfeel with supple tannins that don’t overdo it. The strawberry juice is here in full force, along with a lingering, velvety, slight vanilla finish. The wine goes on and on rather than ending abruptly once you’ve swallowed. This is one to savor and roll around your tongue.
With Food: As usual, Pinot Noir is versatile and works with a variety of foods. Try it with Ahi Tuna or steak, or if you’re in a lighter mood, chicken with a light tomato sauce. Salads will work too, with bitter greens, strawberries and chicken. We suggest you lay off the turkey with this one, it needs something with some more oomph.
$16.04 for 2 at the BevMo 5¢ Wine Sale!
NOTE: This is going fast. Some locations may be out of stock already, so jump on it!
